- Identifying your target market
- Validating your niche
- Single niche vs. multiple niches (e.g. multi niche Etsy shop, lifestyle blog, etc.)
Questions for Episode 6 What is a niche:
How do you define a niche? Give me your definition.
What was your process for choosing a niche? Did you research or was it based on passion/interest?
What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of how you chose your niche? in other words, If you chose based on passion/interest what were the pros and cons? If you chose based on research and made a business decision what do you feel were the pros and cons for you?
What advice would you give to someone choosing a niche?
Questions for Episode 7 Identifying your target market:
Would you consider your niche to be narrow or wide? How far do you think people should niche down? How far is too far?
If you are in a saturated niche, what advice do you have for people just getting started. How would you look for sub-niches or narrow down your target audience?
Do you have a customer avatar? If so, what tips do you have for creating one?
Questions for Episode 8 Validating your Niche:
How important do you think it is for people to validate the potential of a niche? Or should they just go for it and not over-analyze deciding upon a niche?
Do you have a niche failure story–something you thought would work out and didn’t? If yes, what happened and why do you think it didn’t work out? I am looking for hindsight–what did you not realize at the beginning, that once you had failed you knew you should have considered?
Share your thoughts about picking the wrong niche. Do you think it can still be a valuable learning experience?
What advice do you have for people stuck on deciding upon a niche? How would you go about validating that a niche has potential?
Questions for Episode 9 Single niche vs. Multi-niche:
Do you think it is possible to succeed in a multi-niche business? Feel free to mention any examples where you think it is still possible to have a multi-niche business. My example might be an Etsy printables shop.
What do you think the advantages and disadvantages of a single niche business are? What about a multi-niche site?
If you are starting a multi-niche business, how would you recommend people do that? For example, should they start with one topic and then add on? How many topics do you think are the maximum for a business (especially for a blog)?
Want to submit an answer? Here’s what to prepare and what you should know.
- Decide which episode is the best fit for your story.
- Think about your answers to the above questions. You may write your responses out, but please try to record your answers in a conversational tone (i.e. doesn’t sound like you are reading). You may re-record your answers if you’re not happy with them. Answers can be up to 5 minutes but I reserve the right to edit for time or clarity. Recommended length is 1-3 minutes per answer.
- You will need to submit a profile photo of you or your business logo (600 x 600 px) for the show notes page, a URL where people can connect with you, and a short business elevator pitch.
- You may optionally include an offer for the BizSnacks listeners such as a freebie opt-in or a special discount on a product. You should select an offer than is evergreen. Since this podcast is designed to be a step-by-step audio course new listeners may start at the beginning with episode 1 more frequently than with other podcasts.
- Prepare a short pitch to record for the episode. If you are not including an offer pitch, it should be your business elevator pitch (e.g. Hi, I’m ____your name__ from __your business name__ and I help __who do you help__ with __what your business does__ ). If you have an offer, include an additional sentence describing your offer. You will have space to record your pitch during the submission process.
- My goal is provide as many mentions and links as is reasonable for my guests. At minimum all selected guests will get a feature box on the show notes page with a link to your business. You may optionally include a separate link to an offer or opt-in as described in #4 above. I may create audiograms, reels, shorts or other promotional content for the podcast from your submissions. Where possible, we will include a live link back to you. I may quote your answers in other publications such as future books or posts. Books will have a static (text) attribution, but will send readers to a book page with live links to your site. You will need to consent to your content being used in this manner. The podcast guest release can be found here.
- I make no guarantees that if you submit an answer it will be included in an episode. Selection is dependent on: number of submissions received, quality and relevance of the answer, audio quality, and if you have been a previous guest (preference given to those who have not been selected in the recent past).
- The format of this podcast will be narrative, with guest responses woven into the content. You don’t need to answer every question if you don’t have a helpful answer, and I reserve the right to select the most appropriate answers. In other words, I may not use every answer you provide.
